"In Me" (8" x 10" print) was originally created on a Sunday morning during a church service on 22" x 28" poster board with acrylic paint and oil pencils. The message was about how a believer of the Lord is a part of Christ and how Christ is a part of the believer. I do my best not to force a painting into creation, and days before the event I really did not have a direction to go with the illustration. I do not need to have a crystal clear vision in my mind of an idea before I begin creating a painting but I do prefer to have a general direction. I had called the pastor to let him know that I was not going to be able to perform because I had no idea as to how to visually translate the message. The pastor spent a short moment with me to explain further the way he was going to present the scripture to the congregation. In the middle of his clarification I stopped him and told him that I had a concept in mind and I would see him Sunday morning. 

I chose to use a cartoonish or comic book-like feel to depict the figure in the illustration since that would be what most see in our world, the exterior of a man. What is real in this persons life is the soul, the spirit, that which resides within the man. What is within holds more weight and is more real than what we see with our eyes.
